Bhadrapur, Mar. 16 : Jhapa District Development Committee has accorded priority to construction in five years of all-weather motorable roads at its various development committees as well as those linking agricultural production areas to nearby markets.
In the district there are at present about 140 km black-topped road and 753km gravel road, with 158 culverts and bridges, which are serviceable during dry season.
The district development committee plans to gravel nine news roads and construct culverts and bridges at the total cost of rs 3 million in this fiscal year.
The gravelling is to be done on Bhadrapur-Goldhap, Kohabhara-Damana, Sarangpada-Baigundhura, and Suranga-Jhapa roads while bridge will be built over Baluwakhola on Baniyani-Balbari Road.
It has also earmarked Rs 1.1 million for repair of 27 other roads, while at Jhiljhile, Budhabare and Anarmani pocket agricultural areas, access road to markets will be built with the govt grant assistance at a cost of Rs 3.2 million this year.
Besides, the eastern division roads office is to build a 10 km gravel road in jhapa at a cost of Rs 32.2 million, black top 1 km road besides undertaking some culvert and bridge projects this year.
21 district level seven roads village level and one postal roads are being repaired and maintained regularly in the district, according to the division chief of the office Mathura Shrestha.
