Kathmandu, June 24: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Tarini Dutta Chataut has said that as the sustainable development of tourism will be possible only when it is taken to the villages, it will be more relevant to orient the rural people in self- employment by imparting skill development trainings for their direct or indirect involvement in tourism.
Distributing certificates to the trainees at the training jointly organised by the Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Academy and the Remote Areas Development Committee, Minister Chataut said the development of tourism is indispensable considering the increasing interest shown by the people all over the country.
He said this training will help resolve the unemployment problem by providing job opportunities to the people of the remote tourism areas.
Minister of State for Local Development Suresh Malla said the role of the training in tourism development is very important.
He said that the local residents will be capable of providing services to the tourists.
MP Nara Bahadur Budhathoki said it will help increase the income of the people and create employment.
Executive Director of the Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Academy Mrs. Mina Khanal said HMG’s tourism policy has made commitments for standard service, relating tourism with agriculture, rural tourism development, adventure tourism and tourism development in the remote areas.
Mrs. Khanal said 24 participants from seven districts were selected by the Remote Area Development Committee for the training and expressed hope that the training will be result-oriented.
