Itahari, June 24: The fourth SOS International Day and the seventh anniversary function was observed here at SOS children’s village by organising various programmes recently.
Director of the eastern region education directorate Dhirendra Kumar Singh, inaugurating the programme, said the SOS children’s village which has accommodated the children from poor community has rendered commendable services for educational development of the country.
CDO Baman Prasad Neupane spoke of the need of continuous discussions and dialogues between parents, students and teachers.
Sunsari district education officer Bijaya Kumar Gupta remarked that educational institutions should always work for the welfare of the children.
School principal Mahendra Khanal noted that the children’s village which was set up five decades ago in a village of Austria with a view to helping orphans has been set up in over 400 places in 131 countries, and it has all along been serving the poor and helpless children.
At the function chaired by deputy director of the village Arjun Kumar Bhattarai, those coming out first, second and third in annual examinations and those winning extra-curricular activities were distributed prizes and certificates.
