‘Privatized PEs performing well

Kathmandu, June 28:   Finance Minister Mahesh Acharya has said nine of the 16 public undertakings privatized by His Majesty’s Government have had investments increased, six have increased productions and the remaining one is running on partial profit.

Responding to questions raised by MPs at the National Assembly today, Mr Acharya noted that on the whole the performance of the privatized corporations is satisfactory and the government is spending the amount obtained through privatization on priority basis.

Refering to the matters concerning improving fiscal institutions stated in the next year’s budget, he noted that His Majesty’s Government has no policy of privatizing Rastriya Banijya Bank.

The government has made its decision on how to spend the money allocated for the Maoist-affected areas, he further said.

Those asking questions were Shanta Manabi, Kedar Prasad Neupane and Bachaspati Devkota.

Similary, responding to questions concerning his Ministry, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Tarini Dutta Chataut made it clear that at present the government has no plan of developing Halasi Mahadev which is in Khotang district into a tourism centre.

MPs Jagannath Paudel, Bir Bahadur Singh authorized by Uttam Kumar Mahat, Kashinath Adhikari and Mohan ahadur Bam had posed questions to the Minister.

The National Assembly meets again on June 30.
