ML gives EC memorandum

Kathmandu, June 20:   A CPN-ML delegation presented a memorandum to the Election Commission stating that non-Nepali citizens are being asked to take photographs for making voter identity cards.

During discussions on the matter, the commission said it had made necessary arrangement in order to ensure that those who are not eligible to vote do not get their names registered in electoral rolls, adding all political parties and citizens are requested to make claims within the specified time as per the concerned act if any ineligible voter is found to have registered his or her name in the electoral rolls.

Present on the occasion were Chief Election Commissioner Bishnu Pratap Shaha and commissioners Birendra Prasad Mishra, Achyut Narayan Rajbhandari, Ramesh Jung Thapa and Bishwoman Shrestha, and the CPN-ML’s C. P. Mainali, Siddhilal Singh, Sitanandan Raya, Devi Prasad Ojha and Bhojraj Joshi.
