Kathmandu, June 20: Her Majesty Queen Aishwarya Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah gave away the shields and certificates to the winners of the 26th Aishwarya Shield English Spelling Contest and the 10th Aishwarya Shield Inter-Primary School spelling contest here today.
Her Majesty the queen also graced the finals of the spelling contest.
In the inter-secondary school spelling contest, paragon school “A” and “B” came out first and second respectively while Galaxy Public School came out third.
Similarly, in the inter-primary school contest, Serene Valley School, Paragon Public School “A” and Skylark English School came out first, second and third respectively.
Participating in the spelling contests organized by the Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) were 44 secondary schools and 48 primary schools.
On the occasion, GAA president Mahendra Man Shakya said gaa has been organizing such contests since 1972.
Chairperson of the organizing committee Ajita Panday noted that the contest was aimed at enhancing the knowledge of students on the correct use of english words.
Minister for Education and Sports Amod Prasd Upadhyaya was also present on the occasion.
