Best woman health workers honoured

Pokhara, July 12 : The west regional health directorate, Pokhara has declared the best three women health workers from among the 10,000 women health workers of the Region on the occasion of the World Population Day.

On the occasion, regional health director Dr. Yashobardhan Pradhan presented a cash award of Rs 1500, a shawl and certificates to Mrs Ishwari Bhattarai from Nawalparasi district, Mrs Chet Kumari Ghimire from Palpa district and Mrs Maya Devi Gurung from Lamjung district declared the best women health workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pradhan said the award is an honour of all the women health volunteers. He said the women volunteers had an important role in the national population control drive.

Medical superintendent of the regional hospital, Pokhara Dr Somat Singh Tulachan said that the awards were a testimony that sincere work ultimately pays.

Chief district officer Shyam Sundar Sharma said that emphasis should be given to population management alongside population control.

Chief of the United Nations Population Fund management and information system Binaya Ratna Dhakhwa, senior public health officer Guna Laxmi Sharma, health technician Dambar Baniya, statistician Ram Bandhu Regmi and award recipient Mrs Ishwari Bhattarai also expressed their views at the programme.
