Bhaktapur, June 10: The bench of judge Susmalata Mathema of the District Court, Bhaktapur has sentenced two persons involved in the abduction and rape of a girl returning from school to jail terms of six years each. They also required to provide half their property for her upkeep.
Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar of Sindhuli and Jagadish Ulak of Bhaktapur Municipality ward No. 3 Dattatreya had abducted the 13-year-old girl from Chhaling on Chaitra 20, 2055 BS and confined for three days at the former’s room where they raped her.
Police arrested Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar following a complaint lodged by the parent of the victim who was able to escape. His accomplice was caught by police some months later.
Jagadish Ulak has been able to come out of jail within a short period by presenting an alibi in the form of a forged document indicating that he had been undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital on the days the girl had been raped.
