Dhangadhi, June 10: Fifty six houses in Simreni village and Sattibazar of Narayanpur VDC, Kailali district have been inundated by the flooded Karnali river following continous rain since the past few days.
The flooding has covered l00 bigaha of land in two places with sand.
Flooding in the Karnali and Mohana rivers has also inundated six houses in Dhansingpur VDC ward No l, 2 and 9 and covered some 50 bigaha in sand.
The affected families have been moved to safe locations by the police, local administration and the Red Cross.
Meanwhile, flooding in the Seti river has damaged Dipleshwar Secondary School in Dipayal- Silgadhi Municipality of Doti district.
Three houses in Barbata VDC have collpased and standing crops on some 500 ropani of land destroyed, according to the CDO.
A police team has been sent to the affected areas to provide relief and assess the extent of damage.
The flood affected are to be provided Rs 3,000 per family as immediate relief, according to the CDO. The rains have also caused landslides at various points on the Dipayal-Achham and Dhangadhi-Dadeldhura roads.
Meanwhile, in Humla, eight houses of Simikot VDC have collapsed due to incessant rains taking place since June 4 in Simikot, the headquarters of Humla.
Due to floods cowsheds have collapsed killing cattle and destroying the millet, maize and paddy crops.
Movement of people to and from the headquarters has come to a total halt due to rain for two days and the drinking water system has also been in disorder.
DDC chairman and chairman of the district natural calamity relief committee Jiwan Bahadur Shahi and president of the Nepal Red Cross Society district branch Nara Bahadur Rokaya inspected the flood affected areas today.
The CDO had provided food as immediate relief to three families rendered homeless.
