Everest Hotel sends saplings to decision makers

Kathmandu, June 4 In an innovative bid to celebrate World Environment Day on the 5th of June, The Everest Hotel is sending out over 300 Dhupi and Jacaranda saplings in specially designed Thimi pots to decision making citizens of Kathmandu.

On a recycled paper card attached to the Camphor and Jacaranda saplings is a message which says that in a life time of fifty years a tree generates Rs. 8.5 lakhs worth of oxygen, recycles Rs 10.2 lakhs worth of fertility and soil erosion control, and controls air pollution worth Rs. 16.8 lakhs. The same tree provides 8.5 lakhs worth of shelter for birds and animals. The card adds that every time a tree is felled the city loses Rs. 51 lakhs.

Anil Ghei, the General Manager urges recip ents of the Everest saplings to plant them. When you have done something good, you have started ripples which are spreading and you will be surprised how far they will go, he said.

Guests at The Everest Hotel will be asked to plant a tree each in the compound on World Environment Day, Everest Hotel said.
