Kathmandu, June 4: Questions regarding the controversy over the selection of The Human Rights Commission chairman were raised at the meeting of National Assembly today also.
Immediately after the start of the meeting, MPs from the CPN-UML Ram Chandra Bhattarai and Surendra Prasad Pandey spoke of the appointment of the Human Rights Commission chairman and demanded clarifications over objectionable remarks concerning his appointment made by the Deputy Prime Minister during a press conference recently.
Arvinda Thakur of Nepali Congress stressed that lawmakers from opposition parties should support the positive work of the government instead of merely criticising all its work and said it is better for the government to roll back the controversial decision on appointment of the Human Rights Commission chairman.
Devraj Ghimire of CPN-UML demanded that the government restrict the distribution of voter identity cards to Indian nationals coming into Nepal for trading.
Chanda Shaha of RPP demanded a reply from the Home Minister in view of indifference on the party of the police over action against persons involved in a gruesome murder that took place in Bara district.
