Bhadrapur, May 27: Around forty-three wild elephants entering Bahundangi VDC of Jhapa district from neighbouring India are said to have destroyed the standing maize crop on some 50 bigaha of land at Aldangi, Chorki Lahen and Devigunj within the VDC.
Every year groups of elephants coming from the Indian side destroy property worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, destroy houses and sometimes claim human life, says Ward chairman Niraj Ghimire.
Local people have demanded that His Majesty’s Government make necessary arrangement to get rid of the problem.
