About 50,000 people victims of drug abuse

Pokhara, May 20: Around 50,000 people in Nepal are victims of drug abuse. Among the drug abusers 20,000 youths are found to have been taking drugs through injection while 10,000 have been tested H.I.V. Positive.

More than 200 million people in the world are said to have been involved in the illegal trade of drugs while the drug business accounts for 500 billion dollars.

This was disclosed at a three-day training programme for sports person on control of drug abuse organised by drug abuse control project, Kathmandu.

Twenty sports persons from the western region are taking part in the training programme.
