Chautara, May 23: Consensus has been reached between concerned parties on operating all bus services on the Chaurata, Barbise, Jiri road via Bandek Dolalghat in spite of a proposed halt to such passage.
Passengers have to get to their destination on foot during the rainy season due to the rough condition of a 16 km portion of the 26 km Chautara-Bandek road.
Since last year HMG has stopped alloting a budget for maintenance of the road which was built some 30 years ago and is now in a poor condition with a large number of pot holes and much mud.
In view of the difficulties being faced by passengers from that locality, a concerned group comprising representatives from various political parties had warned of a halt to the bus services if the road was not repaired.
A meeting held under the chairmanship of DDC president Suresh Nepal and attended by CDO Madhav Prasad Ojha, ex-MPs, officials from the DDC and representatives from the roads division office Dolakha consented to start repair work from Saturday with a target of completion within a month and also to operate the bus services as usual.
