Kathmandu, May 21: CPN-ML President Mrs Sahana Pradhan, inaugurating the fourth national convention of the Nepal Intellectuals Council here today, said that the intellectuals should act freely and honestly without giving in to any lure and temptation.
Speaking about the important contributions made by intellectuals in making the historic people’s movement of 1990 a success, she pointed out the need for the intellectuals to unite for bringing radical change in the country.
CPN-ML general secretary Bamdev Gautam pointed out the need to promote the intellectuals council as a forum for generating and sharing various ideas.
Politburo member of the party C. P. Mainali said that the intellectuals should go deep into the subject matter with self-esteem and ideological loyalty to combat the degeneration in political, economic, social and other relevant sectors.
Member of the advisory committee of the party Balaram Upadhyaya and a host of other speakers expressed their views at the programme presided over by president of the council and MP Ramman Shrestha.
Attending the convention are 195 delegates and 85 observers from 61 districts of the kingdom.
