New Chief of the Nepal Medical Council Appointed

Kathmandu, Oct.18: Government has appointed Dr. Purna Chandra Karmacharya new Chairman of the Nepal Medical Council, an announcement said.

He is former dean of the TU Institute of Medical Sciences. The government sacked the former Chairman after he attested the papers of a quack. An operation by the quack led to the death of a patient.

 

Sixteen Injured in Bus Accident

Kathmandu, Oct.18: Sixteen persons were injured, some seriously, when a bus skidded off the Prithvi Highway linking the capital and the resort town of Pokhara Tuesday night at 2.25 AM, police said.

The bus was heading for Kathmandu from Pokhara as it fell 50 metres off the road at Sat Kilo. The injured are being treated at Bir Hospital. Police have arrested the bus driver.
