Kathmandu, Jan. 4 : Reacting to the statement issued by CPN-Maoist general secretary Prachanda on Jan. 2, the CPN-UML has said that a false and baseless accusation has been made against the CPN-UML in the wake of the severe criticism of the two-day Nepal bandh programme call on Jan. 1 and 2 following the vandalism on Dec. 27, 2000.
In a press statement today, the party has said it is a positive matter for the Prachandas, who took to the jungles after their policy and programmes were rejected by the people and after reaching the conclusion that nothing could be gained through parliament and parliamentary struggle, to now become familiar with parliamentary character.
The party has also accused general secretary Prachanda of leveling false and baseless accusations against the CPN-UML after being hurt by his own restlessness and immaturity.
We do not assist or support any act carried out towards disturbing communal harmony and giving rise to communal and regional violence no matter if it is carried out in the name of a movement, says the statement.
