Maoists abduct Jhapa District Court judge

KATHMANDU: A group of Maoists abducted Tanka Bahadur Moktan, the judge at the Jhapa District Court on Friday night.

According to reports, the rebels took him away from his home at Jirmire village in Ilam district. Moktan had gone to his home before leaving for Kathmandu where he has been transferred.

Talking to Nepalnews, his wife Bimala urged all human rights activists, journalists and other people from different walks of life to take initiatives for the safe release of her husband.

Meanwhile, the Jhapa District Committee of the Nepal Bar Association in a statement on Saturday demanded for his immediate release, reports said.

Likewise, issuing a statement, Nepali Congress leader Krishna Situala who hails from Jhapa appealed for Moktan’s release.
