CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has warned that the alliance of eight parties could break up if an interim government is not formed by mid-March.
Talking to reporters in western Gulmi district on Monday, Nepal said a Maoist-included government must be formed and the date for constituent assembly election should be announced by mid-March. This is necessary to keep the 8-party unity intact as well as to avert the conspiracies being hatched by the ‘reactionaries’, Nepal said.
The UML strongman further said his party would pull out of the government if formation of interim cabinet is delayed further.
Revealing that the parties had not discussed the division of ministerial portfolios as yet, Nepal expressed suspicion that the Nepali Congress and the Maoists might have been engaged in secret negotiations over the transitional government.
Meanwhile, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Pradeep Gyawali, who is a central leader of the UML, has said the government is on homework to announce the CA election date.
Speaking at a separate programme in Gulmi today, Gyawali said the election date could not be announced due to recent activities of the Maoists and the delay in amending the interim constitution.
