An informal meeting of the eight-party leaders decided on Friday to hold a top-level meeting “very soon” to fix a date for constituent assembly polls as well as to narrow down differences within the ruling coalition.
Maoist chairman Prachanda, UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, Nepali Congress general secretary Ram Chandra Poudel, senior Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Janamorcha Nepal vice-chairman Lilamani Pokhrel and few other leaders of the eight-party alliance were present at the meeting held at Janamorcha central office at Teenkune.
Talking to reporters, Poudel, who is also the Peace and Reconstruction minister, said an informal understanding was reached at the meeting to hold top level meeting to reinforce the eight-party unity.
Janamorcha vice-chairman Pokhrel said the leaders agreed to make preparations for top leaders’ meeting and discussed the need to immediately announce election date, the continuous disruption of parliamentary proceedings and the ongoing chaos in Terai region.
The leaders, however, failed to set a date for the next eight-party meeting. They only said the meeting would take place very soon.
