Six policemen, one soldier and two civilians were killed in an encounter with Maoists in Kaski late Tuesday afternoon, a Nepal Television news bulletin said.
The fighting occurred in Lekhnath municipality when the rebels came in two buses and attacked a police post. Nearly three dozens police were deputed in the post. No casualties have been reported in the Maoist side, so far.
In Surkhet Tuesday, the rebels shot dead a police constable, Karna Bahadur Budha in his home in Ramghat village, the television added.
