37 Nepalis arrive home from Lebanon

37 Nepalis workers returned home from Lebanon on Wednesday morning.

23 women and 14 men have arrived in Mahendranagar of the far western development region on Wednesday morning.

Talking to Nepalnews over phone, Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur, Govinda Khanal informed that they arrived in Kanchanpur via New Delhi.

He informed that, of the 37 Nepali returned from Lebanon, 15 left for Kathmandu, seven for Jhapa, nine for Pokhara and five for Dang. One was from Kanchanpur.

He said that as per the direction of the Foreign Ministry they received the Nepalis in Kanchanpur and managed for their departure to their respective places.

He however, said that he did not have any information about more Nepalis returning via Kanchanpur. “The foreign ministry had informed us on Tuesday about the arrival of 37 Nepalis but we do not have information about more Nepalis coming here,” Khanal added.

Concerned by the safety of Nepalis working in Lebanon as Israel mounts its missile attacks, the Government of Nepal has started rescue operation of Nepalis residing there. There are around 4000 Nepalis in Lebanon, according to government estimates.

So far, five Nepalis rescued from Lebanon have arrived in Kathmandu. There are no reports of casualty of Nepalis so far.
