The second round of peace talks between the government and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) are to be held tomorrow in Bardiya, about 500 kilometers west of Kathmandu, a government source said.

The talks would be held in Tiger Tops Lodge in the Royal Bardiya  National Park. Government and Maoist representatives have already reached Nepalgunj for the talks. Chiranjibi Wagle, Bijaya Gachhadar, Chakra Bastola, Mahesh Acharya and Narahari Acharya are the representatives of the government while Maoist representatives include Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Agani Prasad Sapkota and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi.

Former speaker Daman Nath Dhungana and human rights activist Padma Ratna Tuladhar are participating in the talks as facilitators.

First round of talks had been held two weeks ago in Kathmandu. Maoists had proposed Rolpa as the venue for the second round of peace talks and the government had asked the rebels to come to Kathmandu for the talks. Finally, Bardiya was chosen as a middle point for the talks between the government and Maoists.

The talks aim at ending the six-year old armed insurgency that has already claimed more than 1800 lives.
