25th Education Day observed

Biratnagar, Feb. 25: National Assembly Vice-Chairman Chiranjivi Prasad Rijal has said that the role of persons working in the educational sector is vital for producing able citizens in the country.

Inaugurating a function held to mark the fourth annual day of the Koshi Campus and the 25th National Education Day here recently, he said that there should be no politics in education, if there was politicking in the educational sector, it becomes unholy.

On the occasion, Vice-Chairman Rijal presented a gold medal to Miss Junu Rai, a student of Koshi campus, who had won a gold medal in the Siteriya karate event in the Eighth SAF Games.

Vice-Chairman of the Purbanchal University Services Commission Krishna Prasad Pokherel and chief of Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus Dr. Upendra Koirala noted that cooperation should be received from all the sectors for the development of education.

Chief of Koshi Campus Keshav Prasad Gadtaula presented the annual report of the campus.

Various other speakers also expressed their views at the function presided over by chairman of the Koshi Campus Pradeep Shrestha.

At the function, cash prizes and certificates were given to the students winning various competitions organised by the campus.

Meanwhile, the 25th National Education Day was observed throughout the Kingdom Thursday by organising various programmes.

Lamjung- To mark the occasion, the District Education Committee, Lamjung, held a function in which ten teachers of the primary and secondary level and five chairmen of the school management committees of various schools in the district were honoured.

The DDC chairman gave away prizes and certificates to the teachers and the chairmen of the school management committees.

Khandbari- The 25th national education day was celebrated in Sankhuwasabha district by organising  a rally, a prize distribution and a talk programme.

The slogan of this year’s education day was “ Employment, Development and Humanism: the Ideals of a Democratic Education”.

Addressing a public gathering held after a rally, Nepali Congress central member Gopal Raj Pahadi stressed the need of promoting vocational education in the country.

At the programme presided over by DDC chairman Tulsi Prasad Neupane, Chief District Officer Basanta Raj Bhattarai, CPN-UML district committee Deputy Secretary Dambar Khadka and others also addressed the gathering.

On the occasion, prizes and certificates were distributed to  students winning in different extra-curricular activities organised to mark the national education day.

Dhankuta- At a function marking the national education day, the Chief District Officer Shambhu Koirala, Danish advisor Palee West, Nepali Congress Dhankuta district president Hari Kumar Rai and others gave away prizes and certificates to students winning in different sports competitions organised by the District Education Office, Dhankuta.

A district level athletics competition for the mentally retarded and the hearing impaired was organised on the occasion.

Addressing the programme, the Chief District Officer, Nepali Congress district president and others spoke on the importance of the education day.

Terhathum- A variety of programmes were held  in Terhathum district Thursday on the occasion of the 25th national education day.

On the occasion, a procession of teachers, students, representatives of different political parties, office chiefs, journalists and the general people took a round of the local bazaar and later joined a special “Education Day” function at local Singha Bahini Secondary School.

Chairman of the District Education Committee and also of the DDC Kishor Chandra Dulal honoured two senior teachers in the district and two other teachers of the public primary school at Sabla for completing 35 years of uninterrupted service in the teaching profession.

Prizes and certificates were also given to students coming out first, second and third in the district level examinations of 2055 B.S.

Various speakers including former MP Tejman Tumbahangfe, Chief District Officer Sarad Chandra Poudyal, Nepali Congress Terhathum district president Lekhdhoj Tumbahangfe   and District Education Officer   Arun Kumar Koirala shed light on the significance of the education day.

DDC chairman Kishor Chandra Dulal presided over the function.
