Kathmandu, June 25: The 20th session of parliament began in Singha Durbar Monday amidst protest of opposition parties demanding resignation of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
Speaker Taranath Ranabhat and chairman of National Assembly Dr Mohammad Mohsin welcomed the parliamentarians to the 20th session of parliament and asked them to engage in constructive debate and work in the present session for the interest of the nation.
Prime Minister Koirala and leaders of other political parties also spoke in the opening session of parliament.
Prior to beginning of the session, opposition parties with their parliamentarians marched on the streets with banners and placards demanding resignation of Prime Minister Koirala.
Opposition parties have demanded Koirala’s resignation over the Lauda Air deal in which they have accused Koirala of being involved.
