193rd Bhanu Jayanti or the birth anniversary of pioneer poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya being celebrated today amidst various literary programmes.

Various literary programmes including poetry recitation programme and literary seminars are being organized in various parts of the country to mark the occasion.

Various programs is being organized in the districts to mark the day. The day is also being celebrated in India’s Darjeeling, Assam, Dehradun and Sikkim with much fanfare.

Apart from his literary creations, Bhanu Bhakta is remembered mainly for translating he the Ramayana, the Hindu religious scripture, into Nepali from Sanskrit for the first time.

A variety cultural programme was organized jointly by the Tanahu Contact Society Pokhara and the Indigenous Nationalities Federation Tanahu in Tanahu, the birthplace of late poet Acharya in the occasion.

Various speakers of the programme discussed the contribution of Bhanubhakta Acharya to Nepali literature.
