Security forces shot dead 18 more Maoists in the latest operations against rebels in various parts of the kingdom, the Defence Ministry and local security sources said Tuesday.
The Ministry confirmed 10 rebels were shot dead at Baglung Monday morning. A soldier injured in a landmine blast at Gyalichaur in the district died while undergoing treatment at Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara, an announcement said.
Security forces shot dead one rebel at Goprusinghe in Kapilvastu Tuesday, local security officials said. Security forces shot dead rebels in Taplejung, Jumla, Chitwan and Dhading, the Ministry said.
Guns, bombs, explosives, pistols, binoculars, combat dresses and logistics support were recovered from the clash sites. A woman injured in rebel firing at Baglung was airlifted by the army to Pokhara where she is undergoing treatment.
