KATHMANDU: Security forces killed 15 Maoists in operations nation-wide Sunday through Wednesday, the Defence Ministry and police said Wednesday.
Fourteen rebels were killed in retaliatory firing in Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Morang, Dang, Pyuthan and Darchula Sunday through Tuesday, the Ministry said. Police shot dead Bijaya Karki at Budo khola on the border between Sunsari and Morang Wednesday in an encounter and 13 suspects were arrested, police said.
Security forces recovered bullets, guns, pistols, explosives, socket bombs, grenades, medicines, helmets and Rs.10,875 from the clash sites.
Security forces Sunday recovered magazines of sub-machine guns, bullets, socket bombs, dry food, equipment to make pipe bombs, explosives, wires from Rukum, Lamjung and Salyan districts and food grains in Solokhumbu district Monday.
The army treated 48 persons at a medical camp in a Gorkha Monday, an announcement said.
