11 Maoists killed

Security forces killed 11 Maoists in retaliatory firing in Myagdhi, Bardia, Kanchanpur and Dandeldhura districts Thursday, the Defence Ministry said Friday.

Nine Maoists, including a senior woman student leader, defected and surrendered in Morang district headquarters Friday, officials said She was identified as Mandira Thapa.

The Army Friday deposited Rs.2.9 million in cash, eight kgs 93 grams gold and 296 grams of silver recovered from rebels at two places in Sirahara ,including Lahan, the Army said.

Maoists hacked to death school teacher Nabaraj Thapa, a teacher in Kavre overnight and injured his wife, police said.

India, at the request of Nepal, Friday handed over six injured undergoing treatment in Sitamadhi in Bihar after a September clash with security forces in Sindhuli, police said.
