1.607 awarded for bravery

Four army officers were among 1,607 persons awarded decorations, medals and orders for maintaining peace and security, the Royal Royal Palace said.

Lt. Col. Sudhir Shrestha, Major Hiralal Joshi, Captain Bishworaj Koirala and Capt. Dinesh Thapa (posthumously) were awarded Nepal Tara (Fourth Class), one of the highest military honours, coinciding with New year 2060.

The King honoured 1,023 army personnel, 351 persons from the Nepal Police, 124 from Armed Police Force, 37 from the National Investigation Department and 72 other civil servants.
