Kathmandu, Mar. 24: Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Navin Prakash Jung Shaha inaugurated a daylong international workshop on “women education and educators in remote areas of Nepal” organised jointly by the Japanese embassy and Japan-Nepal women education organisation here today.
Representatives from the education sector of Nepal and Japan participated in the programme aimed at holding extensive discussion on the reason behind the less number of women teachers and, obstruction and problems regarding women development in Nepal and specially to seek out ways to increasing opportunities for education for women in the remote areas.
Speaking on the occasion Vice-Chancellor Shaha said women education is in a challenging state in Nepal and regional and integrated programmes should be carried towards this end.
Japanese Ambassador Mitsuaki Kojima shed light on the Japanese assistance being provided for educational development activities in Nepal.
Joint Secretary at the Education Ministry Chuman Singh Basnet, chief of T.U. central home science department Laxmi Keshari Manandhar, Japanese Professors (Dr) Yasuko Yamashita and Dr. Takesi Tamasita, and other speakers also expressed their views on the occasion.
