The United Nations has made public its report on Nepal along with contents of human rights violations in 191 member states, reports said.
The UN distributed the ‘Nepal Report’ to its member states and asked all of them to attend its ongoing 60th General Assembly conclave with preparation to discuss the issue under ‘Nepal Special Agenda.’
Citing a source, Nepal Samacharpatra daily reported that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Kathmandu had submitted its report on the situation of human rights to the government before the UN General Assembly commenced on 14 September.
The report submitted to the government and the OHCHR headquarters, which was also made available to the UN member states, has raised serious concern of the establishment and functioning of the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC).
The date, for discussion of the Nepal Special Agenda is yet to be finalized.
The government, on the other hand, is busy doing homework on how to react on the OHCHR report before the global forum.
Nepal’s permanent representative to UN, Madhu Raman Acharya, is supposed to defend the government statement over the OHCHR report and the questions raised during the discussion.
