At least two Maoist militants were killed in an encounter in Nawalparasi district on Monday night, security sources Tuesday said.

The Maoists were gunned down when they fired at the patrolling security forces at around 10.30 pm at Harkapur area. A revolver and some electric wires used to plant ambushes have been recovered from the site.

One of the killed has been identified as Ram Prasad Khanal while the identity of the other is not known.

Meanwhile, the Maoists brought down the office of Ward No. 6 of Birjung Sub-metropolitan City by detonating explosives on Tuesday morning. The building has completely been destroyed in the blast.

Similarly, the ultras have blown up a forsaken office building at the same area. No reports of loss of life have come so far.
