KATHMANDU:  Two Maoists were killed in a security action in Dang district Tuesday morning.

The militants were shot and killed when they tried to lob socket bombs at a security patrol at Sautiyar, reports said. One of the dead has been identified as Rajendra.

In Taplejung, the Maoists have abducted over 100 teachers and students from various schools today. Reports said the Maoists have been running training programs on what they call the communist-style education at their strongholds in remote parts of the district.

The captives have reportedly been forced to obtain trainings to operate small arms, reports added.
