The Armed Police Force Friday shot dead two Maoist rebels at Lakuri Valley in Syangjha Friday afternoon in a shoot-out, security sources said.

One policeman was injured in the shoot-out, the same source said. The  encounter extended for several hours. The encounter began after police attacked an assembly of rebels numbering several hundred in the Valley 100 kms west of the capital and near the resort town of Pokhara.
