The Belhiya-Sunauli area has been tense since Sunday/Monday following a dispute between Indian and Nepali customs officials over the checking of a passenger bus carrying Nepali pilgrims home from a pilgrimage to India.

Indian customs officials have prevented the movement of vehicles and goods across the border following the dispute. The dispute started after a passenger bus with pilgrims entered Nepal
