Home Minister Dan Bahadur Shahi has said that dialogues with the Maoist insurgents is possible only after Maoists give up arms and violence.
In his interview to the program ‘Aajako Sandharva’ in the state-run Radio Nepal Tuesday morning, Minister Shahi said, “Maoists should first assure the government that they are sincere about peace talks.”
He alleged the rebels for not being serious in creating a ‘conducive environment’ for talks. Shahi, however, did not deny the possibility for negotiations.
On reconciliation between the government and political parties, he said, the government was always ready to work with parties and move forward together, and added but ‘it is they who do not come forward in a responsible manner.’
