Nepali Congress (NC) president Girija Prasad Koirala Tuesday appointed senior leader Sushil Koirala as the party’s vice-president and KB Gurung as another general secretary.
According to a statement issued by the NC today, president Koirala also inducted 18 new members into the Central Working Committee (CWC). 18 out of the total 37 CWC members were elected in the 11th general convention of party held recently in Pokhara.
Among those appointed members, 11 had lost election for the CWC seat.
The NC president had appointed Sushil and Ram Chandra Poudel as general secretaries two weeks after the general convention, on September 17 after, but Koirala had resigned from the post.
The NC statement further said the president has appointed Krishna Situala as the spokesman of the party while Dr Ram Saran Mahat and Dr Ram Baran Yadav have been appointed as joint-general secretaries. Mahantha Thakur and Mahanta Baldev Sharma Majagainya have been appointed as the treasurer and the head of Organization Department respectively.
As per the changed responsibilities of the party leaders, former spokesman Arjun Narsingh KC has been made in-charge of the Policy and Program Department while Sujata Koirala, Chakra Prasad Bastola and Dilendra Prasad Badu have been given International Relations Deparment, Investigation, Evaluation Department and Coordination Department respectively.
Similarly, spokesman Situala has been given the responsibility of the Publicity Department and Man Bahadur BK, Sunil Kumar Bhandari and Bhim Bahadur Tamang have been given Training Department, Parliamentary and Local Bodies Department and Intellectual and Professional Department respectively while Suprabha Ghimire has been made in-charge of Women Department.
