Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, talking to Nepali media in Islamabad Tuesday, said, the 12th SAARC Summit was highly successful.

PM Thapa said this at the residence of Royal Nepali Ambassador to Pakistan, Pushkar Rajbhandari, after having concluded Summit, the Rising Nepal said.

“The outcomes of the Summit – Social Charter, Framework Treaty on SAFTA and the Additional Protocol to the Regional Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism – were highly significant,” PM Thapa told journalists, according to the daily.

There was no problem of any kind and everything was finalised at the ministerial level meeting, making the Summit just a formality, Thapa added.

“These were the outcomes when Nepal was the chairman of SAARC, and Nepal’s contribution was appreciated by all,” the PM said.

PM Thapa is arriving back to Nepal Wednesday.
