Students Wednesday vandalized a government vehicle early morning in Baneshor, Kathmandu, prior to the beginning of their one-hour long nationwide vehicular strike from 3-4 in the afternoon, our Nepalnews correspondent at the scene reported.
Students vandalized a red government car plated Ba 1 Kha 548, in front of Hotel Everest. But they could not set fire to it, as some army men arrived there and the students fled the scene. The car belonged to Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation, it is learnt.
Students have also begun protests in front of Saraswati Campus in Thamel. The traffic was halted in the area as the protesters have started burning tyres shouting aggressive anti-King slogans. Such protests were also held in front Min Bhawan Campus, other reports said.
In a radio report, student leaders claimed that they have captured one bus and 50 motorcycles in the capital until 12 pm Wednesday.
Meanwhile, reports from Banke said students have announced a daylong vehicular strike in Nepalgunj and the whole district throughout Tuesday.
No vehicles were seen plying in the western district, as the students vandalised a micro van, which dared to operate in the city, the reports said.
