Rajbiraj, Jan. 27: CPN-UML general secretary and leader of the main opposition party Madhav Kumar Nepal has said unity among all Nepalese is the need of the day in order to wipe out the existing anomalies and aberrations in the country and to build a democratic, prosperous society.
Speaking at an interaction programme organised by the CPN-UML Sagarmatha Zonal Coordination Committee here today, Mr Nepal said social relations based on equality should be maintained in order to move forward with an egalitarian society.
Stating that moral norms and values play an important role in consolidating the foundation of unity of civic society and in upholding the supremacy of the constitution, Mr Nepal pointed out the need for all to wipe out hatred and misunderstanding from society and work towards the socio-economic development of the country.
Pointing out the need for reforms in education policy in order generate patriotic feelings and keep citizens aloof from anomalies and aberrations, Mr Nepal expressed the view that communal unity and cordiality should be encouraged.
Describing the Maoist problem as a political one, Mr Nepal also expressed the view that the problem could be solved if inequality, poverty, backwardness, discrimination and unemployment are wiped out from the country.
