The army shot dead six Maoists in continuing operations in two districts Thursday, the Defence Ministry said Friday. The army killed four rebels at Khandbari in Jhapa in east Nepal and two insurgents in Doti.
Security forces recovered a loaded pistol, socket bombs and equipment to set up ambushes from the clash sites. The army treated 115 persons at a temporary health camp in Gorkha Thursday, an announcement said.
Maoists doused a repeater station of the Nepal Telecommunications Corporation at Hatse in Dhading overnight and set it ablaze, official sources said. The rebels also destroyed a village development committee building and a cooperative building in Thatre in the same district, police said.
Sixteen active rebels surrendered to the district administration in Morang Friday, officials said.
