Siemens Communications, the Indian unit of Germany’s Siemens company, has bagged a contract to expand mobile network services of Spice Nepal Private Limited (SNPL), a private cell phone operator in the country.

According to the Financial Express, a leading Indian newspaper, the contract is worth about USD 29 million and the company will be required to build a nationwide mobile network for the SNPL. The Indian unit of Siemens said it would take about 30 months to roll out a network to support a million users in Nepal.

Spice Nepal, which was granted license for operating mobile phones in the country in September last year is expected to launch its services—under the trademark ‘Mero Mobile’ (My Mobile)—within this month.
