Security personnel nab more rebels; seize weapons

KATHMANDU: Army personnel in their cordon and search operations have nabbed more rebels and seized weapons and explosives in different parts of the country, Defence Ministry said.

Security personnel nabbed four people in Motipur of Kapilvastu, two in Nuwagaun of Rolpa and four in Samundradevi of Nuwakot districts. In other districts, there was exchange of fire between security personnel and Maoist rebels, but the army repulsed the attacks, the Defence Ministry said.

Meanwhile, an-all party meeting was held in the parliament secretariat to discuss the current situation of the country. The all-party meeting was organised by Speaker of House of Representatives and chairman of the National Assembly. In the meeting, representatives of different political parties asked the government not to misuse the power in the name of emergency and not to curtail the rights of the people.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba assured that the government would do its best to make sure that normal life of the people would be not be affected. Similarly, a delegation of opposition parties met with Prime Minister Deuba and handed over a memorandum requesting the Prime Minister to lift the emergency as early as possible.
