Security personnel further intensify operation against terrorists

Kathmandu: Royal Nepalese Army and police have intensified their operations against terrorists in different districts on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defence said. The Royal Nepalese Army further narrowed its cordon and destroy operations in different districts in which security personnel nabbed several terrorists, seized arms, ammunitions and explosive materials from the terrorists and their hideouts, the Ministry of Defence announcement further said.

In a search operation in Chorpani of Nuwagaun of Rolpa district, army personnel discovered more explosives, some weapons looted from the army, spare parts and other weapons, the Defence Ministry said. Army personnel discovered explosives and defused them in Darchula also.

The Royal Nepal Army conducted aerial attacks on a group of Maoist terrorists in Chitre village of Gorkha, the announcement said. In the attack, several terrorists are believed to have been dead.

There have been some encounters between security personnel and terrorists in Dolkha, Baglung, Bhaktapur, Gorkha, Ilam, Dolpa and some other districts. Security personnel have nabbed a terrorist who was injured in Salleri ten days ago, in Jiri of Dolkha today.

Similarly, police and army have rounded up 12 terrorists in Bardiya, 2 in Baglung and 13 in Ilam, according to Defence Ministry and police.

Meanwhile, overnight curfew has been imposed in several districts.
