Security forces have recovered 8 kgs of gold and 293 kgs of silver from fleeing Maoists who attacked Lahan Wednesday night, the Defence Ministry said Friday.

The security forces also recovered more than Rs1.1 million in cash stolen from the Rashtriya Banijya Bank and the Nepal Bank Ltd.

Mopping operations are continuing in the area, an announcement said. Earlier reports said the rebels fled with nearly Rs.30 million robbed from the two banks.
