The second global conference of the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN) kicked off in the Nepali capital, Kathmandu, today.
Crown Prince Paras and Crown Princess Himani at the inaugural ceremony of the Second Global Non Resident Nepalese (NRN) Conference in Kathmandu, Friday, Oct 07 05.
Crown Prince Paras inaugurated the conference amidst a function at the Birendra International Convention Centre (BICC) at New Baneswore.
Crown Prince Paras and Crown Princess Himani also gave collective audience to officials of NRN coordination committee and other participants of the conference after the inaugural session.
Speaking at the occasion, Finance Minister and Coordinator of the NRN coordination committee Madhukar Shumshere Rana expressed the government’s commitment for providing any assistance to encourage NRN’s to invest more in the country.
He added that the government is ready to provide more facilities for the NRN to invite skills, expertise and investment from the worldwide NRN community.
Speaking at the same program, Chairperson of the NRN International coordination committee Dr Upendra Mahato pointed out the need of amending some provisions of the NRN Ordinance to create conducive environment for more investment from them.
President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries Chandi Raj Dhakal talked the contribution of the NRN’s for the development of the country and asked the government to create investment friendly environment for the NRN’s.
Over 350 representatives from 35 countries are participating in the conference.
The conference will discuss the recently promulgated NRN ordinance and other issues that would help invite skills, expertise and investment from the worldwide NRN community to Nepal.
The convention will also finalize plans for a Nepal investment fund worth a hundred million dollars to be set up under the auspices of the NRN Association.
The first NRN conference was organized in November 2003 with the aim of bringing investment from Non-Resident Nepalese.
