Samana Banking Award established

Samana Banking Award has been established with a view to encourage the writers and researchers who contribute to the banking and financial sector.

A press statement issued by the Samana Banking Award Trust said that the Trust will award the best book on banking and financial sector in every two years with a purse of Rs.50,000 and provide banking scholarship worth Rs.10,000 to banking students every year.

Award will also be given to the people who contribute significantly to poverty alleviation through micro finance, the statement added.

Rewat Bahadur Karki, an economist and banking expert who has worked in the national and international level including Nepal Rastra Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) respectively, established the Trust amounting to Rs.1 million on the name of his smallest daughter, Samana.
