The “syambar” or engagement of Princess Prerana Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah
will be solemnized according to Vedic tradition with Raj Bahadur Singh
at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace Friday, a Royal Palace announcement said Thursday.
The Princess is the only daughter of King Gyanendra and Queen Komal and was born on February 29, 1978 in Kathmandu. The princess has a B.A. in Business Studies and computing from Rochampton University, U.K. She has visited China, India, Qatar and the U.K. The Princess has been decorated with the Birendra Aishwarya Sewa Padak (2002), the Suprasiddha Prabala Gorkha Dakshina Bahu (2001), and the Gaddi Arohan Ko Rajat Mahotsav Padak.
Raj Bahadur Singh was born on October 20, 1973 in Kathmandu. He is the son of Mr. Navaraj Bahadur Singh and Mrs. Usha Devi Singh. He has completed his M.S in Computer Science from the University of California, U.S.A.
The groom will go in procession from Chawani to fetch his bride at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace Wednesday. The groom will return with his bride to Chawani Thursday, an announcement said.
