Police patrol ambushed

Maoists Wednesday ambushed a sub-inspector of police, Govinda Khatri injuring seven more at around 9:30 am in Surkhet, a radio report said. Khatri died on the spot, it added.

Of the seven injured, some were brought to Kathmandu, the reports said. The police team had entered Surkhet from Bardia district.

In yet another ambush in Murali Bhanjyang of Dhading Wednesday, four soldiers sustained injuries. Three of them were brought to Kathmandu for treatment, the reports said.

Meanwhile, a strike called by the Maoists in Janakpur region Wednesday disrupted life in districts such as Ramechhap, Kavre, Rautahat and Dolakha, among others, the reports added.
